Maximize view

If you want to show as much planning and as little redundant information as possible on a screen, you can use the Maximize view button at the top of the menu bar. It displays vPlan on your full screen and automatically hides your browser menu bar and vPlan's menu bar.

At the top of vPlan, left of the search bar, you'll find the button to display your screen fully: . By clicking on this icon you can easily toggle the full screen view on or off.

Tip

With the ESC key you can quickly return to the original view.

Search and advanced search

Search is an essential function in vPlan. In every view of vPlan, you'll see a search bar at the top right where you can search for cards in your planboard. In this chapter we will explain more about the search feature.

Search

Search works like a filter. As soon as you start typing, cards that match your search are actively displayed and all other cards are hidden. That way you can quickly highlight what you need in your planning.
There are some important features within search that you need to know:

  • The search function searches only within the time period of your planning that you are currently seeing.

  • The search function only searches within cards you see. If you search for cards that have already been filtered out with vPlan's filter, you will not find that card.

  • Your search will remain until you delete or edit it yourself.

  • The search function searches for all information present in a card, such as:

    • Name

    • Description

    • Customer (integration)

    • Item (integration)

    • Custom fields

Advanced search

It is also possible to perform advanced searches on fields within collections and cards. By default, the search feature searches all possible information at once. But with advanced search, you can search very specifically for cards based on an item, customer, activity, label and more.
To use advanced search, first type the colon (:) sign on your keyboard. A menu will appear with all the filters that can be specifically searched for. When you have chosen a filter you can enter the search term behind it. All cards matching the search term will be displayed. It is possible to apply multiple filters in a single search.

You can search on the following data:

Filter

Use filters to determine what information you want to show or hide in your planning. Do you want to see all cards with a certain label? Or do you want to hide completed cards? It's all possible using our filters.

Preferences

With the preferences (eye) it is possible to show or hide information on your planboard. For example, you can easily hide the stage on cards.

Add columns or change the order of columns

If you are using the timeline or list view, the icon below allows you to easily add new columns to show the information relevant to your planning.

The left side shows you which columns you can add, and the right side shows you which columns are currently active. On the right you can change the order of the columns, by dragging them.

Collection view

List

A collection can consist of multiple cards, when you work with multiple stages, for example. You can easily select all cards within a collection to view the flow of the collection. To do this, hover your mouse over the last column, and a button will appear behind the line.

When you click it, the lines between all cards within the collection will be displayed.

Calendar and kanban

A collection can consist of multiple cards, when you work with multiple stages, for example. You can simply select all cards within a collection to view the flow of the collection. When you have selected the collection, you can also move all cards at once. To do this, move your mouse over the card and click on the dot that appears on the right side of the card:

When you click this, the lines between all the cards within the collection will be displayed. When you move a cards, all cards (without status) will automatically move the same number of days.

Timeline

A collection can consist of multiple cards (strips), when you work with multiple stages, for example. You can simply select all cards within a collection to view the flow of the collection. When you have selected the collection, you can also move all cards at once. To do this, click on the dot on the right:

When you click this, the lines between all the cards within the collection will be displayed. When you now move a card, all cards (without status) will automatically move with it the same number of days.

Multi-select

Within vPlan it is possible to select and drag multiple cards.
This way you can drag several cards at once to another day or back to the backlog.
You can select cards separately by holding Control (Windows) or Command (Apple). Click on all cards you want to select and drag them easily to another day.
You can also select a series of cards by pressing Shift. Click on the top and bottom card of the selection you want to move. All cards in between will automatically be selected as well.
If you want to move the selected cards, you can pick up a card and drag and drop it. The other selected cards will automatically move with it. This takes into account the difference in days of the selected cards.
