Backlog
Updated over a week ago

In addition to filtering in the various views, you can also make sure in the backlog that you see only the information that is important to you. You can do this by filtering or sorting in the backlog, or through advanced search. This article explains the options.

Sorting and filtering

There is a filter in the backlog. The filter allows you to make the number of cards in your backlog smaller and relevant to what you actually want to plan. Next to the green button for creating a card, you see a filter icon.
Do you want the results in your backlog sorted and filtered by default? Then you can use the filter in the backlog (with the funnel icon).

Sorting backlog order

You can sort your cards in the backlog by the following criteria:

  • Priority
This is a custom order in the backlog that you can determine by dragging cards to a certain position.

  • Due date
This sorts the backlog by due date from old to new.

  • Name
    This sorts the backlog alphabetically.

  • Created
Sorts the backlog by the date the card was added to the backlog, with the newest always at the top.

Filtering by period

If your cards have a due date, you can also filter by period. This allows you to keep the backlog organized by, for example, only showing cards that have an expiration date that are in the coming week or month (and thus more relevant to plan than cards with an expiration date in a year).

Filtering by order type

In the orders section, you can select the types of orders you want to see back in the backlog. This option is only available if you have vPlan integrated with other software, for example an ERP or an accounting system.

  • Production

  • Project

  • Sales

  • Quote

  • Purchase

Filtering by other criteria

  • Connected activities
Shows only the cards that contain activities linked to the corresponding planboard

  • Duration
Shows only the cards that contain activities with a time duration greater than 0.

  • Due date
Shows only the cards with a due date.

You can combine filters. For example, by filtering on Production orders and Time duration you will only see production orders in the backlog where a time duration is present. A card must therefore meet both filters to be shown.

Advanced search

The easiest way to quickly find a card you want to plan is to search. You can search by name, description or the contents of custom fields, among other things. A search remains until you clear the search bar again. You can also use the search bar as a kind of filter, for example, by searching for an item in your ERP so that it defaults to showing all cards with that item.
In the backlog it is possible to perform advanced searches on fields within a collection to be planned. When using an integration, it is also possible to search on specific integration fields, such as customer and items.
By default, vPlan searches on all standard available collection data. You can now quickly apply filters in the search window. To choose a filter, first type the "colon" (:) sign. A menu appears with all the filters that can be specifically searched for. When you have chosen a filter you can enter the search term. All collections that match the search term will be displayed. You can search on the following data:
