How do you link a resource to a user?
Updated over 7 months ago

In vPlan you have resources and users. The difference between the two is explained in What is the difference between resources and users?

In many cases, resources are also users. For example, a technician who you plan as a resource, but who also has to log in to see his planning.

It is then useful to link the user to the resource, so that vPlan knows to which user account a notification should be sent, for example if the resource is assigned to a card.

To link a user to a resource, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings in the menubar on the left

  2. Then go to Users in the left menu bar

  3. In the list of users, click the user you want to link to a resource

  4. In the user screen, click Edit at the top right.

  5. Under the heading Authentication you will see the username and role of the user. Below that you will find the option Linked to. Select the resource you want to link to the user. In most cases this will be the same name:

  6. Scroll down and click Save.

The user is now linked to the correct resource. If you now assign the resource to a card, the user will receive a notification.

Tip
The Access to assigned cards only option ensures that the user is only allowed to see cards that have been assigned to him or her. You can read more about this at Allow users access to assigned cards only.
