A collection is a group of related cards. Opening a collection gives you a central overview of all information associated with those cards. This means you don't have to open each card individually to view progress, files, or planning.
Opening a collection
You open a collection in the same way as you open a card. You can do this from:
the Collection column in the Timeline or List view
the breadcrumb trail at the top of a card
the Backlog
the Browse overview
After opening a collection, you'll see the collection's progress at the top, followed by the Details, Attachments, and Cards tabs.
Collection progress
At the top of the collection, you'll find a progress bar. This is calculated based on the total number of planned days across all underlying cards. As cards are completed, the purple progress bar gradually fills.
Example
If a collection consists of two cards, each with two planned days, the collection has a total of four planned days. When one card is completed, 2 out of the 4 planned days have been completed, and the progress bar is filled to 50%.
The progress bar also contains two markers:
Yellow: Expected progress. This indicates whether the collection is on schedule. If the yellow marker is ahead of the purple progress bar, the collection is behind schedule.
Red: The collection deadline, if a deadline has been set that is earlier than the planned end date.
Budget
The Budget tab becomes available as soon as an activity with a budget is added to the collection.
In this tab, you can see at a glance how many hours are available for the collection, how many hours are planned, and how many hours have actually been tracked.
At the top, you can see:
Budget: the total number of available hours for the collection.
Planned: the number of hours planned on the underlying cards.
Tracked: the number of hours that have actually been tracked.
Unplanned: the number of budgeted hours that have not yet been planned.
In the top right, you can switch between Time tracking and Status. With Time tracking, you view the budget based on the planned and tracked hours. With Status, you can see the progress based on the status of the underlying cards.
Budget breakdown
Below the overview, you will find the Budget breakdown. The bar shows how the available budget is divided between tracked, planned, and unplanned hours.
Here you can see:
Tracked: hours that have already been tracked.
Remaining: hours that are still available within the planned hours.
Unplanned: hours that have not yet been planned.
Planned: the total number of planned hours.
Budget: the total number of available hours.
This gives you a quick overview of how much of a 100-hour budget has already been planned and how many hours are still available.
Activities
Below the budget breakdown, you will find Activities. Here you can see the activities that are used on the underlying cards of the collection.
For each activity, you can see how many hours have been planned and how many hours are available within the budget. The bar also gives you a visual representation of this.
You can also see whether the activity is Within budget. Use the arrow on the right to expand an activity and view the underlying cards.
Progress
Below Activities, you will find the Progress chart. This shows how the hours develop throughout the planned period.
The chart shows:
Expected progress: the number of hours you would expect based on the planning.
Tracked: the number of hours that have actually been tracked.
Planned: the number of hours that have been planned.
Budget: the total number of available hours.
This makes it easy to see whether the planned and tracked hours are progressing as expected and how they compare to the available budget.
Details
The Details tab contains all information stored at the collection level. This includes information that applies to the entire collection rather than to an individual card.
At the top, you'll find the collection description. This description is intended specifically for the collection and may differ from the descriptions on the underlying cards. You'll also see the collection deadline, the labels assigned to the collection, and any custom fields configured at the collection level.
This tab also provides an overview of all activities from the underlying cards. For each activity, the planned hours are displayed, giving you immediate insight into the overall planning of the collection without having to open the individual cards.
At the right, you'll find the checklists that have been added at the collection level.
Note
Changes made at the collection level apply only to the collection itself. Information that belongs to a specific underlying card continues to be managed on that card.
Attachments
The Attachments tab contains all files associated with the collection.
You'll see the folders that have been created at the collection level, along with the files stored in them.
Under Files to cards, you'll find all files attached to the underlying cards. This provides a single location from which you can access every attachment within the collection. You can also choose to hide these files, as explained below.
In the top-right corner, you can:
search for files
use the action menu to sort files by name, file size, or date added
choose whether attachments from underlying cards are displayed
Cards
The Cards tab provides an overview of all cards and subcards that belong to the collection. By default, the cards are grouped by stage, allowing you to immediately see how work is distributed across the different stages.
Each card displays key information such as its name, description, status, planned date, and assigned resources. For each stage, you'll also see how many cards have been completed and the total number of cards within that stage. This gives you an at-a-glance overview of the progress of the different parts of the collection.
From this overview, you can edit cards directly or open them, so there's no need to navigate away before making changes.
In the top-right corner, you'll find a search box that lets you quickly locate a specific card within the collection. You'll also find the action menu, where you can customize the overview by grouping cards by Stage, Resources, Status or Activity. You can also choose whether all groups are expanded or collapsed by default, and decide whether subcards, recurring cards, and completed cards are displayed.
