How do you add an activity to an already planned card?
How do you add an activity to an already planned card?
Updated over a week ago

When a card (or several cards from a collection) is planned, and you want to add an extra activity to it in another stage, many users first place the card back in the backlog. Then an activity is added and the card is scheduled again.

However, in vPlan you do not have to put the whole collection of cards back into the backlog. You can also add a card to the scheduled collection in the planning board itself, after which you can add the activity.

The example below explains how you can do this.

Suppose you have planned a card on the stage ''Production'' with the activities Welding and Sawing but afterwards you also want to add the activity ''Assembly'' in the phase Assembly.

This can be done without first putting the card back into the backlog. Proceed as follows:

1. Select the card that is already planned in production. You do this by moving your mouse to the right-hand side of the card and clicking on the bullet to the right of the card.

You have selected the card. You can see this because other cards in your board disappear into the background (are greyed out) and at the top of vPlan you can see which one you have selected:

2. Now that you have selected the card, you can add a new card to the existing one by moving your mouse to the top corner of the desired day in the Assembly stage and clicking on the plus icon.

3. The title of the card is taken over automatically:

4. You now only need to press Enter to save the card in the chosen stage and on the chosen day:

5: Now you only need to open the new map and enter the correct activity with time estimate:
