In vPlan you can create checklists in cards or set them up as defaults in your configuration to be added to a card as soon as you need the checklist.
Because checklists often have to be completed at a certain step in your planning, it is useful to have the addition of checklists done automatically. This ensures that important checklist steps are never forgotten (and it saves the planner unnecessary clicks).
Checklists can be automatically added based on the following conditions:
1. Automatically add a checklist based on an activity
2. Automatically add checklists when a card is created in a certain stage
3. Automatically add checklist when a collection is created
4. Automatically add a checklist when a label is added
5. Automatically add a checklist when a card's status changes

General explanations about automations can be found in: How do automations work?
1. Automatically add a checklist based on an activity
You can set this automation when you want a certain checklist to be added when a certain activity is added to a card. For example, a checklist called ''Packing list'' for the activity ''Packing and shipping''.
This automation also works when the activity is already present in the backlog, and the card is planned.
The conditions to be set are:
Activity: Select the activity for which the checklist should be added.
Checklist: Choose which checklist should be added.
For example:
2. Automatically add a checklist when a card is created in a certain stage
If you work with stages within the planning board and you want a checklist that is automatically added to the card of one of those stages, you can use this automation.
This automation works when you manually create a card in a stage, but also when you plan from your backlog and a card is automatically created in the corresponding stage.
The conditions and actions that can be set are:
Stage: Set in which stage the checklist needs to be automatically added (when you plan or create a card at that stage).
Checklist: Set which checklist should be added automatically.
For example:
3. Automatically add checklist when a collection is created
If you want a checklist to be added to the backlog or scheduling board for every new collection you create, this is the ideal automation. This automation always adds a checklist, regardless of the situation or conditions. All you have to do is create a new collection.
Example:
4. Automatically add a checklist when a label is added
In vPlan, labels are one of the most used functionalities for recognition in your planning. When you add labels, you can also set automations and processes, including checklists.
Adding checklists based on labels can be varied in two ways. Either you can at a checklist when a label is added in a specific stage or a checklist can be added regardless of in which stage a label is added.
The conditions and actions that can be set are:
Label: Choose which label the checklist should be added to.
Stage: Choose at which stage the label should be added.
Checklist: Choose which checklist the automation should add.
For example, you want the label "Material shortage" to be added to a card in the stage "Picking" to automatically add a purchasing checklist to the card.
You can then set up your automation as follows:
5. Automatically add a checklist when the status of a card changes.
With statuses, you can keep track of the progress of your work. You can work with simple ''To do, doing, done'' statuses, but you can also put various steps in between, depending on your process. For example, the sales funnel steps in a sales process.
Based on a status change of a planning card, you can also have checklists added automatically. You can do this with the automation below.
The conditions and actions to be set are:
Stage: Choose at which stage the status change should take place to automatically add the checklist.
Status: Choose the status at which the checklist should be added, if a card gets this status.
Checklist: Finally, choose the desired checklist to be added.
For example, for the sales process mentioned above you could set it like this:
